WASHINGTON, DC - Yesterday, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that it had filed an administrative complaint against James Corrado Inc., which is doing business as Corrado Specialty Goods and Corrado’s Wine Grapes. The complaint was filed against the New Jersey-based company for allegedly failing to make payment promptly to 15 produce sellers in total.
Corrado Specialty goods allegedly failed to promptly pay 12 produce sellers in the amount of $1,101,728 from April 2020 through May 2022, according to a release. Corrado’s Wine Grapes allegedly failed to make payment promptly to three produce sellers in the amount of $515,561 from September 2020 through October 2021.

Corrado will have an opportunity to request a hearing. Should USDA find that the company committed repeated and flagrant violations, it would be barred from the produce industry as a licensee for three years, or two years with the posting of a USDA-approved surety bond. Furthermore, its principals could not be employed by or affiliated with any PACA licensee for two years, or one year with the posting of a USDA-approved surety bond.
