Village Farms International has a lot in the works this year and is expecting to see significant growth. Although net sales in the previous year due fell to decreased market prices and the loss of 82 acres in a hailstorm, EBITDA rose by 52% and net income rose by 35%. The company will launch new packaging and varieties at PMA in October and is currently ramping up production of an heirloom style tomato for key accounts in limited markets this year. The variety will be in full production in 2014. Doug Kling, Senior Vice President, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, tells AndNowUKnow, “ We’re gaining momentum on our Heavenly Villagio Marzano line as well, with a 10 oz gusseted bag with zipper seal, 1 pound bag, and a 10 oz clam which will continue to ramp up this Spring after an extremely successful limited release in 2012 and the first quarter of 2013.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Herndon Farms is gearing up to kick of its Vidalia Sweet Onions. The company has increased production with its different programs. Overall, the company has increased production 10% on its Sweet Onions and Sweet Corn for the 2013 campaign. John Williams, Sales Manager, tells AndNowUKnow, "The Vidalia crop is looking good. The last few weeks we have been experiencing cooler than normal weather that has slowed down the growth, especially in the later varieties.
