CANADA - Giving thanks is something this industry is no stranger to. The very nature of the business lends itself to collaboration, and the holidays give us a unique chance to appreciate all we do for one another. As we ring in Canadian Thanksgiving on this chilly fall Monday in Sacramento, California, we had the chance to connect with our northern neighbors to see how they are celebrating the special day.
Paul Mastronardi, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mastronardi Produce®
“Thanksgiving is the perfect time to recognize that our industry, at its heart, provides the healthy, fresh, and flavorful produce that is an integral part of the meals and memories shared by families. At Mastronardi Produce, we are thankful for the ability to have such an impact each and every day.”
Karin Gardner, Executive Director of Marketing, Oppy
“Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian colleagues and friends! Today’s a good day to be grateful for the opportunities we have to share our abundance across so many borders. No matter where we sit, we’re so fortunate to work together to bring fresh produce grown close to home and around the world into the hands of our neighbors. There’s a lot to be thankful for.”
Bert Mucci, Chief Executive Officer, Mucci Farms
“As we reflect on the past year, this year’s Thanksgiving has taken on a greater significance. We are extremely grateful not just for our team, but for teams across the supply chain that have worked diligently to deliver fresh produce to families across the globe with minimal disruptions. Thank you to everyone from suppliers to retailers and everyone in between for pulling together and showing the world what the fresh produce industry is all about!”
Chris Veillon, Chief Marketing Officer, Pure Flavor®
“As Canadians, we are thankful to spend this day with family and friends. Like most national holidays, including today, it’s about togetherness, sharing a meal, and creating memories that we can reminisce about for years to come. Having not been able to spend Christmas and Easter together in the last year due to pandemic restrictions, this Thanksgiving is extra special on many levels! A huge thank you to our customers and to the industry for all that you do, and Happy Canadian Thanksgiving from the team at Pure Flavor.”
Mario Masellis, Director of Sales and Marketing, Catania Worldwide
“It is appropriate that we give thanks today to be involved in our industry. If there was any doubt that the produce industry is an essential service, the COVID pandemic quashed it. We are thankful for the industry, for our employees, for the drivers, farmers, and all associated from Farm to Fork. Happy Thanksgiving!”
Though we cannot celebrate together in person this year, we hope our friends up in Canada see that the holiday’s spirit is alive and well with ANUK.
