CINCINNATI, OH - Back by popular demand, The Crosset Company is bringing a “Home Run Event” to both its produce vendors and the retail buying community as the company ramps up for its annual Buying Food Show and Educational Seminar on August 16th at the Great American Ball Park, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

With the event just weeks away, Bob Lummis, Sales and Merchandising Manager, joins me to discuss the details of the event and how Crosset continues to bring value to the supply chain and the retail space.

Bob Lummis, Sales and Merchandising Manager, Crosset Company“Crosset is a hands-on company that is dedicated to always staying connected to our customers,” Bob tells me. “This is not a one-size-fits-all program and we pride ourselves on the level of service, access, and quality we bring to our partners. The long-term relationships with growers, shippers, and processors, are a testament to the culture we build at Crosset, and in the industry.”

As a proud member of Castellini Group of Companies, Crosset offers exceptional wholesale distribution and logistics resources, as well as a skilled network of in-house and field buyers and in-house ripening and value-added capabilities, including fresh-cut produce.

2016's Crosset Food Buying Show

This year’s show is setting its sights on becoming another “Home Run Event,” and if it is anything like last year’s Crosset show, the team will definitely knock it out of the park. Attendees, buyers, and vendors from the produce community will join Crosset at the new Handlebar Club in Great American Ball Park on the 16th, where they will learn about “Employee Retention” from Harold Lloyd, whose resume includes a tenure as a former President and C.E.O. of a 14-unit retail organization as well as time as an area franchise developer for Friendly’s Restaurants in the Tidewater Virginia area. Attendees will also have the chance to hear from former football fullback Elbert L. "Ickey" Woods, who played his entire NFL career from 1988 to 1991 with the Cincinnati Bengals, and will share his insights and experiences with the crowd.

As the vendor floor opens to guests in the afternoon, attendees will have the opportunity to take advantage of special deals with savings on products through the end of the year, from more than 50 top produce and floral suppliers. There will also be an extended variety of value-added products offered at Crosset, as well as some new merchandising components, including cases, shelf-facers, and tables to elevate the experience.

“Our reputation at Crosset has allowed us to grow within the retail community, gain more market share, and bring the best offerings within the produce industry to our customers. Building relationships, creating opportunities for continued exposure for our suppliers, and driving innovation to the forefront of our initiatives, are just a handful of the goals we have here at Crosset,” Bob says.

The day will wrap up with a dinner cruise up the beautiful Ohio River aboard BB Riverboats’ Belle of Cincinnati, docked at Newport Landing.
