REEDLEY, CA - Sustainability is the hot topic on everyone’s mind, and it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere soon. As consumers become more aware of their own waste and its effects on the environment, their priorities and preferences have gravitated towards eco-friendly packaging. Dayka & Hackett is taking this trend to the next level, introducing its newly-designed Eco-Tote™ for table grapes. For Dayka & Hackett, this new packaging represents the evolution of the entire industry.

Brett Burdsal, Business Development/Sales, Dayka & Hackett“I don't think it's a fad, I think it's a fact that this is where the industry is going. Three years ago, I don't think you could've introduced this bag,” Brett Burdsal, Business Development/Sales, commented. “The grab-and-go pouch bags are extremely popular with both consumer and retailers for numerous reasons. We also think the added benefit of doing good will make the grapes even more enjoyable than they already are.”

According to a press release, the new packaging is biodegradable, recyclable, and, perhaps best of all, it is water resistant. The Eco-Tote™ is designed to withstand moisture and temperature changes, while still protecting the fruit. In fact, the new bags are so sturdy that they can easily be reused again and again.

The new packaging will debut during the California table grape season, starting in August

“We think that recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable packaging is wonderful, but if you can actually use it a couple of times between now and then that's even better,” said Brett.

The packaging’s eye-catching, yet earthy and simple design will draw consumers in, but what really gets them on the hook is the sustainability features. The new packaging is debuting during this California table grape season, starting now and will be available throughout the year.

Consumer demand has shifted to prioritize sustainability as a factor in purchasing decisions. With its bold new eco-friendly direction, the company is merging style, function, and environmental stewardship, keeping Dayka & Hackett on the cutting edge and ahead of the curve.

“Retailers are trying to do the right thing and consumers are trying to do the right thing as well, so it just made sense for us as growers, packers, and shippers to align with their values,” Brett concluded.
