NOGALES, AZ - As the world shifts and changes, oftentimes the best thing we can do in this industry is change with it. This is one reason why the Fresh Produce Association of America (FPAA) has promoted two of its members to new roles. To continue to ensure the success of the association and its growth, Georgina Felix has been appointed to Director of Operations and Foreign Affairs, while her fellow team member, Emmis Yubeta has been promoted to Director of Membership and Events. With these two leaders at the helm, there is no telling how much success they will garner.
As a part of the FPAA team for over 14 years, Felix understands the inner workings of the organization, and is a prime candidate for her newest role. According to a press release, she has experience working on Inter-Institutional Public Relations with foreign and local governmental agencies, as well as with grower’s associations abroad. Felix also serves as a liason for the FPAA, and communicates with nationally recognized research institutions on its behalf. Outside of her role at FPAA, she was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District No. 35 Foundation, where she serves to benefit education in her community.
“As the FPAA evolves, Georgina has the mindset and skillset to help deliver on the goals of the Board of Directors,” said Lance Jungmeyer, President. “As a strong analyst and communicator, Georgina is well-suited to manage daily operations as well as to grow strategic relationships.”
In her new position, Felix will be in charge of maintaining outreach with Mexican associations and government agencies. Her new role will boost her into a management position within the FPAA.
Joining Felix is Emmis Yubeta, who was promoted earlier this year. She has worked with the FPAA for over five years, beginning her career with the team in 2015. Yubeta has continued to benefit both the association and her community as she has grown with the FPAA. In addition to her role, she also serves on the Board of Directors of the Nogales Boys & Girls Club.
“This year, when the community struggled with COVID-19, Emmis showed leadership by helping organize food drives, COVID testing efforts and delivering banners to boost industry worker morale,” explained Jungmeyer. “In her new role, she aims to broaden the reach of FPAA by expanding our membership, and member benefits, such as health initiatives we are planning in order to help the industry prepare for COVID next season.”
Both women work closely with President Lance Jungmeyer, 19-year FPAA veteran, and Vice President Allison Moore, as well as Accounting Director Conchita Singh, who all work in unison to further the goals of the FPAA. The association is currently on the lookout to hire other new members who will continue to bolster its growth goals.
