CORAL GABLES, FL - Continuing its ambitious growth strategy while honoring its commitment to Mother Nature, Fresh Del Monte has recently announced that it will be moving two of its energy-efficient container vessels, Del Monte Harvester and Del Monte Valiant, to the West Coast.
“We are excited about the move of these two vessels to the West Coast,” said Helmuth Lutty, Senior Vice President of Shipping Operations. “Providing customers with high-quality products in a timely manner is a top priority of ours, and we are proud to be able to do it in a way that helps meet our sustainability goals as a company.”
The two vessels were launched in July 2020, along with four other energy-efficient reefer container vessels, which helped mark a new chapter in environmental sustainability for Fresh Del Monte, according to a company release. Moving the vessels to the West Coast will allow the company to have full control of its fleet, while also speeding up shipping times to ensure that customers receive only the freshest products.
Each of the vessels is equipped with the latest hull design to achieve a speed of up to 22 knots with efficient fuel consumption has a full cargo capacity of 1,276 TEU with 634 plugs for forty-foot high cube reefer containers, with air-cooled containers to maintain the cargo at specified temperatures with multiple variants from -25C to 40C. The Del Monte Harvester and Del Monte Valiant both meet very rigid emission control regulations, and their Hybrid Scrubber system meets all international requirements to reduce pollution and control emissions of noxious substances, furthering the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
