Pete Overgaag, owner of Hollandia Produce, joins us in today’s episode. 2011 has proven to be a huge year for the company, starting with the redesigning of its clamshell from the bottom up. Hollandia began the task by looking at all aspects of the clamshell in order to make it the ultimate container. The end product produced an enhanced container maintaining an improved shape and aesthetically pleasing appearance, known as the “Squircle”. The new shape modification also allows 20% more clamshells to fit onto a pallet. The company has also relabeled their Upland Cress package, resulting in positive consumer response and an increase in sales. Hollandia is also the first living lettuce producer to achieve HACCP and GFSI certification from Primus with an impressive 99.2 % for its score. In addition, the company won a PMA Impact Award at this year’s Fresh Summit Expo for their innovative Squircle packaging.

www.livegourmet.com
