KINGSVILLE, ONTARIO, CANADA - Lending a helping hand to its community, Mastronardi Produce® recently donated $10,000 toward facility upgrades at Gesstwood Camp and Education Centre in Essex. The camp is well-known throughout the community where local children attend ropes courses and do outdoor learning activities.
Mastronardi Produce has supported the camp under its SUNSET® brand for several years and donates fresh produce for the campers all summer.
“Our family and the SUNSET team are very invested in the local community. So many children in Windsor-Essex have enjoyed coming here for outdoor learning and making friends while being close to home. It is a place we want to keep around for years to come, and we’re proud to support their cause,” remarked Mel Mastronardi, Community Project Coordinator.
As a press release outlined, a check presentation took place yesterday, with Milla Mastronardi, Marketing Intern, speaking on behalf of the family to Gesstwood campers and staff. The check itself was presented to Gesstwood Executive Director Karen Seguin.
"The Board extends our deepest gratitude to Mastronardi Produce and the SUNSET team for this donation and all their support over the years,” stated Seguin. “As a small non-profit, Gesstwood relies heavily on grants and donations, and these funds are crucial to maintaining a camp environment that is safe and comfortable so that our campers take home amazing memories to last a lifetime.”
A group of campers presented a hand-painted sign with “Thank you, SUNSET” written across it, after which Mastronardi Produce gave out swag such as activity books and backpack/luggage tags.
Mastronardi Produce donates fresh SUNSET produce to the camp throughout the summer, which is available to campers all day. The company has supported the camp’s programs over the years by sending kids to camp, running cooking classes for the campers, and renovating their A-frame cabins.
