OXNARD, CA - As Mexico's mango season evolves, shipments into the U.S. continue to run behind last year's pace, creating a tighter supply environment that retailers should prepare for in the weeks ahead.
According to the latest Mexico mango export report through July 5, Mexico has shipped approximately 46.6 million cartons into the U.S. this season, compared to 55.0 million cartons during the same period in 2025, a decline of roughly 15 percent. With production in Southern Mexico largely complete, Sinaloa and Nayarit are now carrying the majority of the remaining season's volume. However, current and upcoming growing regions are also expected to produce significantly fewer mangos than in previous years due to unfavorable weather conditions during fruit set. In addition, the hotter, drier weather has caused the season to finish earlier than normal, further tightening supplies as the season progresses.
For Freska Produce, these seasonal transitions are expected and planned for well in advance.
"Every mango season presents different challenges, and this year we're seeing overall crossings remain below last year's pace," said Gary Clevenger, Managing Partner of Freska Produce, in a press release. "As supply becomes more concentrated in fewer growing regions, planning ahead becomes increasingly important for retailers."
According to Clevenger, fewer producing regions naturally create a firmer market, making advance planning and strong supplier relationships even more valuable.
"When supplies tighten, retailers that communicate early and build programs with dependable suppliers are in the best position to execute successful promotions," he said. "Waiting until the last minute can make it more difficult to secure the volumes and sizing needed."
While overall industry shipments are lower than last year, Freska has been preparing for the seasonal transition by working closely with its grower partners and planning ahead to help maintain a dependable supply for customers throughout the summer.
"At Freska, we've built our program around long-term grower relationships and proactive planning," Clevenger said. "Our goal is to help customers navigate changing market conditions with confidence while continuing to deliver the quality fruit and reliable service they expect."
Although supplies are expected to remain tighter through the remainder of the Mexican season, consumer demand for mangos continues to be strong. As the market moves through July, Freska encourages retailers to finalize promotional plans early and work closely with trusted suppliers to help ensure successful mango programs for the remainder of the season.
