LEAMINGTON, ON - As consumers seek to more closely identify with the location stamped on their produce, NatureFresh™ Farms is making moves to be a more recognizable local grower to the Ontario market.
The company’s Owner, Peter Quiring, recently took the time to introduce me to NatureFresh’s line of Ontario Red tomatoes, three varieties that are making a splash in the locally-grown market.
“People are looking for locally-grown,” Peter explains to me. He shares that the greenhouse grower is a proud part of Foodland Ontario, a consumer promotion program established by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in 1977.
“Nine out of ten customers in Ontario recognize Foodland Ontario, and our Ontario Red is part of that program,” Peter continues.
NatureFresh’s Ontario Red Line offers:
- Beefsteak tomatoes
- Tomatoes on the vine
- Roma tomatoes
Currently there are plans in the works to get the equipment to expand the program’s availability year-round within the next couple of years, with current offerings from March until December.
