Sambrailo Packaging's Sara Lozano Details Innovative Practices and Advantages
- by Anne Allen
WATSONVILLE, CA - With nearly a century of experience at its back, Sambrailo Packaging has blended historical expertise, family ownership, and pioneering packaging innovation into one industry powerhouse. I spoke with Sara Lozano, Manager of Marketing and Product Development, to find out why this company is one to reckon with.
“We are committed to delivering the best packaging solutions and experience for our customers, the supply chain, and into the hands of the consumers,” Sara noted. “Our legacy in the industry has gifted us 97 years of historical knowledge that has been passed down through a total of four generations. While each generation has had its challenges, Sambrailo Packaging has been diligent in listening and then delivering on new innovations. From introducing the first clamshell design in 1987, to our MIXIM packaging system in the 90s, to now leading sustainable packaging, packaging automation, and complete resource management, we are rooted and determined to continue our legacy for many more years to come.”
Sambrailo Packaging is a valuable industry partner, as it works diligently to include packaging services that include forecasting, procurement, product, quality, and product development and design.
“Our packaging product lines include traditional clamshell and tray systems, fruit and vegetable cartons, and our newest offering ReadyCycle® sustainable packaging. ReadyCycle is our next chapter in our history and the packaging that is needed for our world today,” Sara remarked. “As an alternative to plastic packaging, ReadyCycle reduces single-use plastic waste, giving brands full marketing real estate beyond the label to communicate their story. It's something we have worked hard to make a reality internally and with our customers who have helped pioneer this with us. Now, we’re in our fourth year and feel like it’s only the beginning!”
ReadyCycle, Sara explained, continues to be a solution for many consumers, retailers, and growers as they look to reduce their carbon footprint.
“We believe we can lead our industry to change and show our communities we are listening, that we are a part of the solution,” she stated. “Seeing more growers, retailers, and consumers reaching out to us about ReadyCycle is some of the most encouraging work we have done, and we will keep going—together!”
This innovative, can-do attitude has infused Sambrailo’s business strategy since its inception, making its partnerships with customers a prized connection.
“We’re a part of their packaging journey from concept to production,” Sara said. “We provide full packaging resources and services so our customers can focus on what they do best: Growing and providing incredible produce.”
