Southeast Produce Council Presents 2024 Fresh Chefs Scholarships

MILLEN, GA - The recipients of the 2024 Fresh Chefs Scholarship, presented by the Southeast Produce Council (SEPC), have been announced! The industry organization has awarded Tairan Lockett and Peter York with $1,500 scholarships toward their educational goals for the upcoming year.

"The vision of the Southeast Produce Council is to cultivate the future of produce," shared David Sherrod, SEPC President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our providing much-needed funds to these aspiring chefs like Tairan and Peter is a commitment to that vision. We are excited to host them at Southern Innovations and to provide opportunities in their chosen profession."

The innovative SEPC Fresh Chefs program is open annually to any full-time college or secondary education student pursuing a degree in culinary arts or restaurant management.

In addition to the scholarships, each recipient will also be invited to attend SEPC’s Southern Innovations conference and expo on September 12–14, 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee, a press release noted. SEPC will cover hotel and travel expenses to the event and will also provide an SEPC Fresh Chefs jacket for each recipient. During the event, the recipients will have the opportunity to network with hundreds of produce industry grower/shipper members as well as the nation’s leading retailers and foodservice distributors.
