MIDDLETOWN, NJ - Trader Joe’s is continuing to eye the East Coast market as it recently closed in on several retail spaces. As the company continues to build out its expansion on both the East and West Coasts, Trader Joe’s is planning to open a new store in New Jersey, New York, and Florida.
The grocer will be taking over a 14,068-square-foot space in Middletown Plaza that Walgreens previously owned. Walgreens closed the Middletown, New Jersey, spot last year. As NJ.com reported, this will make Trader Joe’s the first supermarket in Middletown Plaza since ShopRite moved across the highway in 2021.
The retailer also noted on its site that it now has plans for a new store in New York at 69-65 Yellowstone Blvd in Queens and one in Florida at 8111 Cooper Creek Blvd in Bradenton.
Trader Joe’s offers a variety of produce, frozen foods, snacks, flowers and plants, dairy, seafood, and more. There are currently 18 Trader Joe’s locations in New Jersey and more than 500 locations nationwide.
