Mr. Taylor hopes to create more awareness about the different varieties that consumers may not have been introduced to or be familiar with. The different varieties the Bureau is showcasing are the traditional Bartletts; along with the Comice, a unique pear for the holidays; the Concorde pear; and the Bosc pears, which are great for cooking.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> The Pear Bureau also seeks to educate pear lovers on how to tell when a pear is ripe. Pears ripen from the inside out. If you cup the pear in your hands and press the stem end and the stem end yields to pressure, then the pear is ripe. <hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
