<p>The U.S.D.A. has filed actions against two California produce companies, Alejo Markets Inc. and Alejo Grocers Inc. for failure to pay for produce.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/hl_paca_may_14_2013_body00.jpg" alt="images 051313 2" /><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Alejo Markets Inc. allegedly failed to promptly pay $161,670 to eight sellers purchased between July 2010 and December 2011.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Alejo Grocers Inc. allegedly failed to make full payment to 10 sellers in the total amount of $389,524 purchased between July 2010 and December 2011 allegedly failed to make full payment promptly to 10 sellers in the total amount of $389,524 under PACA. The company, operating from California, purchased the produce between July 2010 and December 2011.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/hl_paca_may_14_2013_body01.jpg" alt="images 051313 2" /><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Both companies will have an opportunity to request a hearing.
