Vidalia Onions Names the Six Golden Onion Judges for the Annual Vidalia Onion Festival

<p>Chefs from across the state of Georgia are getting ready to face-off to try to make the best Vidalia sweet onion recipe. The 3rd annual Golden Onion Professional Cooking Competition will take place during the 37th Annual Vidalia Onion Festival.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The cook-off will showcase the Vidalia onion, the official Georgia state vegetable, and offers a platform for talented chefs throughout the region to showcase their skills.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">A panel of five judges will taste and score each dish on the basis of taste (50%), the chef’s verbal presentation (5%), visual presentation (10%), creativity (15%), overall use of Vidalia® onions (15%), and following the recipe submitted during the application process (5%).<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The five judges will be: Chef Holly Chute, Chef Linton Hopkins, Chef Christopher Smith, C.F.B.E., Bob Stafford, and Hope S. Philbrick, according to a press release.
