TORONTO, CANADA - The fresh department is leveling up across Weis Markets’ network of nearly 200 stores. The retailer is teaming up with grocery platform Invafresh, aiming to improve demand forecasting, in-store production planning, food traceability, recipe management, and cut test management.

Bob Gleeson, Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing, Weis Markets“Our Invafresh collaboration will help us automate processes, such as ordering, production, and inventory management, so that we are meeting customers’ expectations with the freshest foods while also more accurately predicting demand,” said Bob Gleeson, Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at Weis Markets. “We expect this platform to reduce food waste and improve efficiencies.”

Consumers’ increased interest in fresh and prepared foods has helped drive a rise in sales during the pandemic. According to a press release, this increased demand along with labor shortages and competition has spurred food retailers to automate certain processes by implementing fresh-native technology.
