Dave Corsi, VP of Produce and Floral, Wegmans, joins Sarah Hoxie in this exclusive interview to discuss his influences in the industry and what he has come to love about produce as a great remedy to healthy living.

Mr. Corsi joins Sarah from SEPC for his first time at the event. As a veteran in the industry he has heard many wonderful things about the event over the years and decided to make it here this time on for his own experience. Mr. Corsi has been in the grocery industry for thirty years, and the produce industry for twenty of those. He began as a Category Manager at Wegmans and soon after became the Director of Produce.

He worked very closely with his predecessor and one of his dear mentors in his life, Stephen J. Gallucci, whose passion was something to aspire to. When asked what he loves about the produce industry, Mr. Corsi responded that there are many elements to produce. One is that produce as a product; it is a great remedy to health. The more fruits and vegetables that an individual consumes, the healthier that the individual will hopefully become. Second is the people. There are so many great people throughout the industry that he has met throughout the supply chain, he notes, starting with the grower and how passionate they are about the products that they grow and what they provide. There is always a story behind every item that is offered.

Mr. Corsi reflects that food safety is an area of the produce industry that is always top of mind. Wegmans heavily supports the Center for Produce Safety. The Wegmans Charitable Foundation contributed 250,000 to the center because they are the ones that are the clearinghouse in research. He asks anyone else in the supply chain to really step up and make that same commitment.

We would like to thank Dave Corsi for sharing his time with us!
