The increase is consistent across companies at about $50 more per ton and is effective in a few weeks. Without mitigation, the annualized increase in cost for the average farmer is expected to be significant.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Mr. Huff encourages farmers to take a look at their box to see if it is the right box. Look at the weight of the box, the footprint as well as the gaps in the boxes; how it is constructed. The industry can also look at how many cartons they are using and what type of box they are using and can discover if there is a way to use all of the same type of box.
