Winn-Dixie will be closing three stores in Albany, Georgia before March 5th, according to a press release.
“Business conditions occasionally force companies like ours to make tough strategic decisions,” said Director of Public Relations Rondel Cuyler.
The closures will significantly reduce Winn-Dixie’s presence in the highly competitive Albany market.
With a population under 78,000, the area represents a challenging market that includes Sam’s Club and Save-A-Lot, retailers that now have room to gain ground in Winn-Dixie’s absence.
The company is proud of their history in the Albany area and remains appreciative of customer and Winn-Dixie team member support, Cuyler commented.
Two stores in will remain in the area: one on Old Dawson Rd. and another in neighboring Leesburg.
