SAN BERNARDINO, CA - Stater Bros. has a year-round commitment to assisting those in need, and this year is no exception. Its support continues to grow and provide as the company extends its hand to those who are faced with hunger, through monetary donations from Stater Bros. Charities, and in-kind donations of food. Each year the company assists in providing meals for more than 8 million individuals who are faced with these challenges. Through the Stater Bros. Charities' Customers Care Program at each check stand in every store, the company is able to collect and donate over $600,000 in cash donations for local food banks and self-help organizations. Over three million pounds of food are contributed to support the local food banks in the community over the year as well.

November and December hold special meaning to Stater Bros., as they have kicked off its 3rd Annual "Harvesting Hope" which puts extra emphasis on relieving hunger by placing food barrels at every one of the 167 supermarkets as well as its corporate offices and distribution enter. The barrels are there to collect nonperishable food items for hunger relief. Stater Bros. is also supporting The Salvation Army's Red Kettle holiday campaign again this year with the money donated remaining in the community where it was collected. Jack H. Brown, Chairman and Chief Executive Office of Stater Bros. Supermarkets states, "Many of our hard working customers have exhausted their resources and are being forced to get extra help this holiday season. Stater Bros. is going to help in the best way we know how by keeping our prices low and helping our food banks get a big boost for the holiday season."

www.staterbros.com
