Stop & Shop Gets Lean By Saving Energy

<p><strong>NORWELL, MA</strong> -The Stop &amp; Shop Supermarket Company LLC has been leaving its mark, simply by reducing the presence of one. With the help of Bluestone Energy Services, LLC, Stop &amp; Shop has been able to considerably reduce its use of energy in a significant number of store locations and warehouses. This action has allowed the company to meet demanding sustainability goals and cut costs while receiving over $4 million in utility incentives, according to a press release.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> In both stores and warehouses, electronically-commutated motors were installed while energy efficient LEDs took the place of the original lighting fixtures. Bluestone Energy achieved infrastructure upgrades in Stop &amp; Shop stores in North Kingstown and North Providence, Rhode Island. The upgrades resulted in an annual savings of over 343,000 kWh and an average ROI of less than two years.
