SCHILLER PARK, IL - The holiday season may be over, but consumers are still seeing bursts of red in the produce department. To the delight of many shoppers, Sun Belle has announced the availability of its seasonal red currants.

“We love to bring red currants to our customers,” commented Sun Belle’s Chief Executive Officer Janice Honigberg. “Their beautiful bright color adds a bright spot in winter. They are also wonderful leading up to Valentine’s Day.”

The first arrivals of this highly anticipated specialty fruit officially hit stores under the Sun Belle label in mid-December. Granting retailers a host of unique merchandising opportunities, the fruit will be available through mid-February.

As a press release explained, red currants grow in bright shiny clusters, making them especially appealing for recipes and garnishes. The pearl-shaped, juicy berries pair perfectly on cheese and grazing boards, with game and poultry, and in salads, jellies, baked goods, desserts, and beverages.

Ken Hopps, Director of Business Development, recently visited Sun Belle’s partner farms in the central Chilean region of Maule, reporting a “strong program on board.”
