WASHINGTON, DC - According to Western Growers, the Supreme Court has a big decision to make. On Monday the court said it will rule on the legality of Arizona’s Senate Bill 1070. This is one of Arizona's tough, new immigration law. The issue will be decided in the middle of the 2012 presidential election campaign. Arizona’s crackdown on illegal immigration has stirred the political pot and the Supreme Court now has the responsibility of deciding if key parts of Arizona’s new immigration laws can proceed.

The decision will have lasting effects for those who do or do not support Arizona's strict laws. President Obama, who has criticized the law, may be left with a political blow if the law is upheld. Depending upon the ruling, states may either follow in stride or disperse depending on the decision. Police will be required to check the immigration status of those detained or suspected of being illegally in the nation. Other aspects require immigrants to have their papers on their persons at all times and will ban people lacking the proper documents from soliciting for work in public places.
