Sysco Makes A Promising Acquisition

<p><strong>Houston, TX</strong> - Sysco Corporation is taking a new acquisition under its wing. The corporation has reached an agreement to purchase European Imports, Ltd, a Chicago-based company, with prospective completion of the deal to take place in the next coming weeks, according to a press release. The venture appears promising for both sides of the acquisition where European Imports had annualized sales of $124 million in its most recent fiscal year and has emerged since its inception as a full-line specialty food distributor to the central U.S. with concentration in the Midwest, Texas, Arizona, Colorado and Atlanta.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Chuck Staes, Sysco's Senior Vice President-Northern Region, states, "European Imports has a well-earned reputation and impressive track record in the high-end, specialty import products segment, and we are thrilled that they will be joining Sysco." He continues, "This is an excellent strategic fit, which will help Sysco be a better competitor in this segment. European Imports will be a stand-alone business that will complement our Sysco broadline and specialty operations."<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> During the transition, management and employees of European Imports will maintain their roles within the company.
