VANCOUVER, B.C. - New Zealand apricots are back by popular demand and the Oppenheimer Group has kicked off the season with air shipments to both coasts as of last week. Because of this year’s short Chilean apricot deal, New Zealand fruit will have a unique appeal this season. The nectarines are principally grown by the Jackson, Darlings and Remarkable Orchards in Central Otago region, according to a press release. To ensure the best handling practices are enforced throughout the supply chain, Oppenheimer is working with its New Zealand partner Delica Global to meticulously select the finest apricots for the North American market. The fruit is available from Oppenheimer, now through March in three-kilogram single-layer trays in a range of sizes.

“This is always an exciting deal for us,” said Evan Myers, Stone Fruit Category Director, “Retailers value the high color and excellent eating quality of apricots from New Zealand, and welcome the opportunity to extend their winter stone fruit offerings as the Chilean apricot deal winds down."

www.oppyproduce.com
