Today, I am bringing you some of the category and weather news from around the industry. Check back twice weekly to see where the rain is falling, the sun is shining, and everything in between.
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA CAN EXPECT ONE MORE WEEK OF RAIN
Northern California is set to receive more rain today, and more storms are lined up for next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Salinas is poised to received .25 inches of rain today and another .75 inches of rain over the three-day period next week. The northern San Joaquin Valley growing locations of Stockton and Sacramento will also see decent rain totals today as well as next Tuesday through Thursday.
The further south you go in the state, the less the chance of rain. Santa Maria and Oxnard on the coast and Fresno and Bakersfield in the SJV will only have a 40 percent of a light shower next week. Coastal California will see warmer temperatures over the weekend with highs in the mid-60°s. By next Saturday, March 30, these regions will have stable air and highs in the low 70°s. Could this be the end of the rainy season for California?
WARMING TREND COMING TO CALIFORNIA DESERTS AND MEXICO
Warm and stable air will be moving in over the desert regions of California and Arizona and the majority of Mexico starting Sunday.
DESERT REGIONS - COACHELLA VALLEY/YUMA
Temperatures will pick up this weekend and will continue into next. The current high temperatures are in the mid-70°s, but will begin to warm on Sunday, and by Tuesday the maximum temperatures will be 90° and then remain in the high 80°s for the remainder of the week. Minimum temperatures will be in the upper 50°s. There is no rain in the forecast. This weather will be good for the bell pepper crop that should begin harvest next week.
CULIACÁN, SINALOA, MEXCO
Culiacán will experience a warming trend over the next few days with highs maxing out at 97° on Monday and Tuesday of next week. By Wednesday, high temperatures will drop a few degrees to around 94° where they will stay the remainder of the week. Low temperatures will remain the in the mid-50°s all week. Look for continued volumes out of Culiacán.
CENTRAL MEXICO
The central Mexican growing regions of Puebla, Guanajuato, and Michoacán will all see temperatures rise over the next few days. Expect Monday to be the hottest day of the week with temperatures in the mid- to upper 80°s, depending on the region. Temperatures will remain in the mid-80°s all next week for these growing locations.
MARTÍNEZ DE LA TORRE, VERACRUZ, MEXICO
Good weather will return to the lime growing region starting tomorrow with high temperatures in the mid-80°s and lows in the upper 60°s. There is a 40 percent chance of a light shower next Tuesday. Beyond Tuesday, the skies look clear. Hopefully, we will see more volume coming from this region by the end of next week.
CIUDAD OBREGÓN CORRECTION
On Tuesday, we reported that Ciudad Obregón, Mexico, was experiencing unusually cold temperatures with a chance of rain. This is the information we were receiving from our weather service provider. It was brought to our attention by Guillermo Martinez of Wilson Produce in Nogales that this information was most likely not corrected. We did some research, and we discovered from our service provider that their system was mistakenly reporting information from another location in the area. We were told this error should be corrected in the next few days.
The correct information for Ciudad Obregón in the next ten days is a warming trend with highs in the low 90°s all next week without any chance of rain. Low temperatures will be in the mid-50°s. This is perfect weather for their spring crop.

FLORIDA
Perfect spring weather to overtake Florida. Temperatures up and down the state will be in the low to mid-80°s all next week with minimum temperatures in the mid-60°s without any significant chances of rain. Spring crops from the Sunshine State should be just around the corner.
