<p><strong>ROCHESTER, NY</strong> - Wegmans has made Fall 2011 the season of giving through its checkout scanning campaign at stores in New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Eastern Pennsylvania, and the Greater Rochester region of New York. Customers made hunger relief donations at these forty-three Wegmans stores totaling $1.43 million, according to a recent press release. The number represents an increase of 4% above the Fall 2010 record of $1.38 million in funds raised. The Check Out Hunger and Care About Hunger programs have allowed a donation of $1, $2 $3, $5 or any other amount, to be made at checkout with 100% of the proceeds going to local food banks.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Different regions kick off the company's campaign at differing times throughout the year. The remaining thirty-three Wegmans stores located in Buffalo, Syracuse, the Southern Tier and parts of Pennsylvania commenced the annual campaign in January 2012.
