It’s my pleasure to bring to you the latest organic fruit news from Awe Sum Organics this morning as the company recently announced the availability of its organic green and gold kiwifruit and Chilean blueberries.
As stated in a news release, Awe Sum's organic green and gold kiwifruit is sourced from top growers in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres to ensure a year-round supply. One of nature's most nutrient-rich foods, kiwifruit is always harvested at the ideal time for peak flavor and perfect ripening. Brix levels and dry matter content are carefully monitored throughout the growing season and fruit is not harvested until the balance between the two is just right. Awe Sum is now offering its new crop organic green and gold kiwifruit from the Northern hemisphere, available from October through May.
According to a Produce Marketing Association (PMA) report published on June 2, 2020, organic kiwi sales increased by 50.5 percent during the same time period year over year, poising the category for even further growth this season.
The grower is also offering its new crop organic blueberries from Chile. Awe Sum Organics Chilean blueberries are bursting with sweet flavor and a hint of tartness that consumers’ taste buds will love. These delicious and nutritious berries are grown in the most Northern part of Region IX, in the southern part of the Central Valley of Chile surrounded by volcanoes. The deeply rich, volcanic, and unusually fertile soil combined with the optimal climate is ideal for organic blueberry production, according to the news release. The most Northern part of Region IX experiences little rain during growing and harvest seasons, ensuring strong fruit and a reliable and bountiful supply.
Awe Sum Organic's Chilean blueberries are 100 percent Duke variety and are available from late December through early February. The Duke variety retains fresh quality and is known for its mildly tart and delicious flavor, large berry size, and firm consistency.
