UNITED STATES - AndNowUKnow seeks to bring you the latest information on a variety of crops. With Baloian Farms’ recent production update as a guide, let’s explore some hot-ticket categories that have seen recent market fluctuations.

First up on the list, the grower detailed the tightness of green bell peppers. In its last production update on March 21, supply was light and extremely strained. As of today, green bells are still hovering in the light supply range.

“Grade profile looks to be majority foodservice packs for the balance of the Mexico season. Retail packs are incredibly light now. Transition fields are developing nicely in Coachella, CA. Tentative start date of April 21,” remarked the grower.

Baloian Farms is keeping a close eye on its bell peppers, noting to load while you can for blocky red/orange/and yellow peppers

Next, Baloian Farms reported that blocky red, yellow, and orange bell peppers continue to be studied on a day-to-day basis. As the Sonoran season approaches its conclusion, availability is subject to change, so load while you can!

Celery and green/red leaf lettuce continue to be very light in availability

Brussels sprouts, elongated red peppers, eggplant, Romaine, Romaine Hearts, and spinach are currently stable in supply

With the celery harvest closing last week, Baloian advises that if you have an opportunity to load soon to do so, as quality and color is excellent on celery currently. Noting that it concluded its harvest for green leaf last week, Baloian Farms expects to conclude the harvest of its red leaf this week.

Brussels sprouts, elongated red peppers, eggplant, Romaine, Romaine Hearts, and spinach are currently stable in supply.
