Tue. August 14th, 2012

Justin Bedwell, President of Bari Produce, joins AndNowUKnow.com to discuss this company's table grape program and upcoming changes to retail packaging.

Mr. Bedwell states, "We're working on Thompson seedless and Flame seedless; they're our early varieties. We'll then get into Red Globe seeded, with which we do a lot of export business. Autumn Royal, Scarlet Royal and Autumn King are our major varieties."

"All of our grapes come out of Fresno county, and I'm anticipating good supplies. The crop is going to be average, as far as volume and production. The entire state production will be about 7 to 10 million boxes, so I expect good promotions and a good export market. We've had good weather leading up to everything, and it should be a very good year for California table grapes."

With regards to the new retail packaging, Mr. Bedwell states, "We're experimenting with a new high graphic retail bag for our domestic retailers; while we've always done a plain pack for our overseas customers, they're catching up to what we're doing domestically, and now they're looking at bags. A consumer bag type product is going to be big for us."

Bari Produce
