CHICO, CA - Bella Sun Luci recently brought home a coveted recognition from the TASTY AWARDS. Its Plant-Based Tomato Jerky: Teriyaki & Cracked Pepper was named the Top Artisan Plant-Based/Vegan Jerky of the year.

According to the release, Bella Sun Luci’s plant-based snack went up against jerkies from around the world in the tasting competition but was able to snag the Gold award in the International Artisan Plant-Based Jerky of 2021 category. The company noted that this award is an honor to receive for a small, women-owned business that focuses on producing a health-minded snack made from California-grown tomatoes.
This plant-based innovation is made through a time-intensive, three-step process that starts with whole halves of tomatoes that are dried in the California sun. Then, the tomatoes go through a proprietary flavor infusion process that mirrors the marinating stage in traditional meat-based jerkies before heading off to its final drying process. This results in a hand-crafted premium snack that boasts incredible texture and a deep, rich flavor.
While all products are plant-based, each variety is created differently. Bella Sun Luci notes it prides itself on using only premium ingredients to achieve the best flavor. And with the increase of plant-based diets, the Tomato Jerky couldn’t have chosen a more perfect time to come out on top with this award.
