UNITED STATES - Blackberry markets are holding steady across most growing regions to begin July, while tighter supplies from Guatemala are pushing prices modestly higher through South Florida.
According to the USDA's July 2 National FOB Review, the strongest pricing is coming from Guatemala imports through South Florida, where light supplies and fairly good demand have the market slightly higher. Medium 12-count, 6-ounce flats are ranging from $17.50 to $23.00, mostly $22.00. USDA noted a wide range in quality, condition and pricing, with some previous commitments trading higher.
Across Mexico crossings through Arizona, California and Texas, demand remains good, and the market is about steady. Flats of 12 6-ounce cups are ranging from $10.00 to $12.00, with occasional higher prices reported.
Domestic production is also maintaining stable conditions. In North Carolina, demand is good and markets are about steady, with 12-count, 6-ounce flats ranging from $16.00 to $18.00, with occasional higher and lower prices depending on quality and availability.
Similarly, South and Central California continues to report good demand and a steady market, with 12-count, 6-ounce flats also ranging from $16.00 to $18.00.
An industry source detailed that California production has been somewhat delayed by cooler weather this season. Supplies are continuing to build through July, so while the market is relatively steady today, it's not yet at peak production. Quality has been strong, and demand appears to remain solid.
Overall, blackberry markets remain well balanced heading into early July. While tighter imported supplies from Guatemala are supporting higher prices in South Florida, steady domestic production in California and North Carolina, along with consistent Mexican shipments, is keeping broader market conditions stable.
