NEW YORK - Foodservice and retail are coming together in an exciting way as Blue Apron and Amazon have expanded their partnership. Now, the provider’s meal kits will be available in the United States Amazon store, which will widen its consumer base and help to expand its third-party channel strategy.
“Our customers regularly tell us how much they love our meals. By offering a selection of products in the U.S. Amazon store, we are able to provide Amazon customers the opportunity to buy a range of chef-curated meals that will arrive quickly to their door,” said Josh Friedman, Blue Apron’s Chief Product Officer. “Our mutual commitment to exceptional customer service will allow us to continue to deliver a great experience.”
Within the U.S. Amazon store, Blue Apron will be offering a selection of its popular meal kits, including its newest Ready to Cook options, Family Favorite recipes, and quick Heat & Eat meals. According to a release, shoppers will also be able to purchase Blue Apron’s limited-time, special occasion boxes via the site, such as a host of holiday options that will make entertaining this season easier.
This collaboration builds on Amazon and Blue Apron’s previous partnership, and the foodservice platform’s recipes are now available with Amazon Alexa, giving consumers the ability to prepare their Blue Apron Two-Serving and Four-Serving recipes with hands-free instructions.
“Offering an assortment of Blue Apron meal kits will make it even easier for Amazon customers to prepare delicious meals,” said Janie Song, Amazon’s Director of Grocery and Health & Personal Care. “We hope this offering will inspire those new to cooking and save time for seasoned cooks looking for quick, convenient options.”
Blue Apron is continuing to expand its ecosystem as part of its goal to drive customer growth via multiple avenues. The meal kits sold in the U.S. Amazon store are directly fulfilled by Blue Apron, but the company is taking advantage of the retailer’s strong supply chain and ability to ship boxes the next business day.
