SANTA MARIA, CA - What’s going on in the wonderful world of strawberries? Bobalu has satisfied our need for market insights with its most recent crop report, sharing some updates on its strawberry production in Santa Maria, California.

“We continue to enjoy consistent weekly volume here along the coast in the Santa Maria region,” the company stated in its latest weekly crop update. “We have several microclimates here and since our fields hug the coast, our weather conditions are very mild, even with temps warming up this month. We do expect a slight warm-up this weekend into the high 70s and then back down to the mid and low 70s next week.”

Bobalu's berries are currently showing good color, firmness, and flavor, with healthy plants that will continue to push out new fruit over the next several weeks

As the grower reported, nighttime temperatures in the Santa Maria region are hovering in the mid- to lower 50s. This is helping keep the plants cool at night and maintain fruit ripening and daily harvest schedule consistency.

Giving us an insight into its crop, Bobalu noted that its fruit has sized down a little, which is typical for this time of year. The berries are currently showing good color, firmness, and flavor, with healthy plants that will continue to push out new fruit over the next several weeks.
