FRESNO, CA - In October, the California Table Grape Commission (commission) and Central California Food Bank (CCFB) collaborated on a two-week donation campaign that raised over $60,000 to support food distributions in Fresno, Kern, and Tulare counties.

The funds raised by the campaign will support CCFB Farmworker Community Partnership Program, which brings food and other resources to rural agricultural communities that may not have easy access to other food distributions. The campaign was developed by the commission and CCFB in recognition of California Farmer and Farmworker Month to recognize the hard work of farmers and farmworkers while ensuring communities throughout the Central Valley have access to food.

Food insecurity rates in the Central Valley are higher compared to the national average, so campaigns such as this one directly address this issue. The commission, on behalf of California table grape growers, partnering with CCFB helps stretch donation dollars even further to have a greater impact on food insecurity.

Ian LeMay, President, California Table Grape Commission

“The public and California table grape growers gave generously to this campaign,” said Ian LeMay, president of the commission, in the recent release. “With final donations reaching over $60,000, CCFB will be able to provide more than 240,000 meals throughout these significant agriculture communities,” said LeMay. To round out the campaign, the commission team volunteered time at CCFB, bagging fresh produce bound for food distribution throughout the Central Valley.
