China to Suspend US Citrus Shipments

<p style="text-indent:0px; line-height:12px;"><span style="font-weight:bold;line-height:130%">Auburn, CA</span><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">By ANUK Staff<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">4.16.13</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Chinese regulatory authorities have announced the suspension of all U.S. citrus shipments, to take effect April 18th.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The California Citrus Quality Council is contacting exporters to advise them that USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has received notification from China’s quarantine regulatory authorities of the suspension.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">APHIS is translating a letter from China’s quarantine regulatory authorities and more information will be provided to the industry once the letter is translated, according to an email sent to citrus exporters from the council.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The ban will slow the export market for California citrus.
