CMI's Consumer Focused Retail Tote Bags

Thu. January 3rd, 2013

Welcome to this episode of What’s in Store. CMI International is helping retailers promote its Ambrosia apples by introducing new tote bags. The bags allow consumers an easier way to carry produce and have the PLU identification on the handle. A QR code can also be located on the tote bag allowing consumers to learn about the origins of the Ambrosia apple by simply scanning with their smartphones.

Part of the Ambrosia story is also about how CMI and one of its founding owners, McDougall & Son’s use their North American license of the variety to carefully manage the quality of the apples. With less than 20 growers in the Pacific Northwest, strict measures are used to maintain the Ambrosia’s sweet taste on a consistent basis. CMI’s Ambrosia availability began in September and will continue through March. The company says they expect another year of plentiful fruit; which is part of a trend they hope will continue.
