Equitable Food Initiative Appoints Karla Cook as New Certification Manager

WASHINGTON, DC - With a successful growth strategy in place, the Equitable Food Initiative (EFI) has announced that it will continue to expand its team as it taps Karla Cook to become its new Certification Manager. With over a decade of compliance experience under her belt, Cook will be an asset to the pivotal industry team.

Karla Cook, Certification Manager, Equitable Food InitiativeAs Certification Manager, Cook will report directly to the Managing Director and will work closely alongside the Data Systems to ensure equitable implementation of the EFI scheme across business models, geographies, and commodities. According to a press release, in her new position she will also manage EFI’s current and future licensed certifying bodies and auditors, communicate with growers to help them through the certification process, and closely coordinate with the EFI Board of Directors’ Standards Committee.

Before joining the EFI team, Cook worked for several major brands as part of their social compliance programs, and most recently ran her own compliance and human resources consulting firm. Before that, she spent over a decade serving as the Divisional Manager of Operations for Latin America at Walmart Global Sourcing where she oversaw Walmart’s compliance program for the region’s supply chain.
