We’ve seen vending machines providing fresh tomatoes to joggers in Japan, but what about organic salads?

Farmers Fridge, a company that was recently founded in October 2013, is providing the citizens of Chicago a more convenient way to eat healthy. Tucked away behind the bottom of the stairs in Chicago’s Garvey Food Court and on the Lake Forest Tollway Oasis, consumers can find a self-proclaimed “veggie machine” made out of reclaimed wood that holds a variety of fresh, organic salad options, as well as breakfast and snack items.

Some of the salads offered in the kiosks include an “antioxidant salad,” which combines mixed greens with goat cheese, mixed berries, almonds, carrots, sprouts, flax seeds, and white balsamic vinaigrette, a high-protein salad, the detox salad, a Mediterranean salad, and much more. These salads aren’t packaged in an ordinary, boring box either; instead, they’re contained inside special jars that are designed to keep the food as fresh as possible and so you can later reuse or recycle the packaging.

According to the DailyMail, the food is made fresh each day by the company and is delivered by 10 am to the kiosk to ensure maximum freshness, while the company’s website proclaims to always use as many local and organic ingredients as possible.

The founder of Farmer’s Fridge, Luke Saunders, says he launched the company after seeing how many people wanted nutritious, healthy, and delicious food on-the-go. “Finding fresh, healthy food shouldn’t be hard,” he tells the DailyMail. “Sure, you can find healthy offerings at a sit-down restaurant or a grocery store, but people don’t always have that kind of time.”

Restaurant quality salads?
