<p><strong>Los Alamitos, CA</strong><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Frieda’s Black Garlic was honored at this years sofi Awards as a silver finalist. The annual event hosted by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade features hundreds of national food products, bringing tastemakers to judge and select winners for 25 categories.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Black Garlic took home the award under the “Outstanding Cooking Sauce or Flavor Enhancer” category. Louise Kramer, spokesperson for NASFT, states, “This was the most competitive sofi Awards contest in its 40 year history. Being a sofi finalist or winner means that a product truly stands out. Frieda’s has been at the forefront of innovation and in bringing new and unusual products to the market. Black Garlic is just one more great example.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Frieda’s began distributing its Black Garlic to supermarkets and foodservice in 2009. The specialty product is aged naturally and features cloves that are rich and dark in color, soft and chewy in texture, and sweet and savory in taste. Karen Caplan, President and CEO of Frieda’s Inc, states, “We started with the kiwi 50 years ago—so, it’s really nice to get recognized during our 50th anniversary for bringing an new flavor onto the scene.
