<p><strong>Los Alamitos, CA</strong><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Frieda’s Specialty Produce participated in “Cuisine from the Collections” a cocktail party held at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University in Philadelphia to celebrate its bicentennial anniversary.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Frieda’s provided fresh fruits and veggies that were used in food stations at the event, including Pomegranate, Dragon Fruit, Purple Asparagus and Purple Baby Cauliflower.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/spotlight-cuisine-from-the-collections.jpg" alt="11/27/2012 Images" /><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“The Cuisine from the Collections is a wonderful event that highlights science, the amazing work the Academy does and uses food as an education tool, too! It was an honor for us to be a part of this,” said Karen Caplan, President and CEO of Frieda’s.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The inaugural event was part of a one-of-a-kind annual program that will feature food and drinks inspired by the 18 million animal and plant specimens in the academy’s scientific collections. A variety of the food stations included ingredients not usually found in most kitchens, such as bugs, snakes and snails.
