IFCO Launches Environmental, Social, and Governance 2023 Report; Inigo Canalejo Comments

MUNICH, GERMANY - In its dedication to achieving its sustainability targets, IFCO has made impressive achievements and tangible progress when it comes to its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. This can be seen in the company’s IFCO ESG 2023 Report, Thriving through Circularity.

Inigo Canalejo, Vice President of ESG and Strategic Marketing, IFCO“Guided by our strategy, we have worked diligently to help customers eliminate single-use packaging and food waste from their supply chains,” said Inigo Canalejo, Vice President of ESG and Strategic Marketing, in a statement. “In fact, by making the switch to IFCO RPCs, our customers avoided 346k tonnes of solid waste this year alone. And in recognition of our product performance, we also received Silver Cradle to Cradle® certification for our European Lift Lock RPCs. It’s results like that that have helped us achieve Sustainalytics’ coveted recognition of ESG Regional Top-Rated Company in Europe.”

Some of the key highlights and milestones from the report include:

  • Replaced over 2 billion single-use packaging units with IFCO RPCs
  • Reduced freshwater use per RPC by 6 percent
  • Renewed the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver certification for the European Lift Lock generation of RPCs
  • Donated 69,000 RPCs to food banks around the globe

In its ESG 2023 Report, Thriving through Circularity, IFCO revealed tangible progress when it comes to its environmental, social, and governance goals

The report also details how IFCO will continue to invest in measures to bring the company closer to becoming a net-zero, zero-waste business committed to the principles of the circular economy.
