MUNICH, GERMANY - For three decades now, IFCO Systems has utilized its expertise and innovation to reduce waste and generate supply chain efficiencies for fresh suppliers. Thirty years later, the company’s RPCs are used in approximately 2 billion shipments of fresh food a year.
With its original debut, IFCO challenged the linear economy with its IFCO SmartCycle™, providing an outstanding example of a circular economy business model based on the principle of share-reuse-recycle, a press release explained.
The RPC supplier recently highlighted its progress toward its ambitious “Thriving in the Circular Economy” environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy with the release of its 2022 ESG Report, “30 Years of Thriving Circularity.”
Some of the notable successes achieved across the company’s business, planet, and social-focused pillars of its ESG strategy include:
- releasing innovative new products
- converting to renewable energy
- substantially reducing landfill waste
- continuing a perfect food safety record
- forming partnerships with food banks
The provider will push forward in this aggressive strategy as it looks to continue fulfilling its promise of making the fresh grocery supply chain more sustainable.
