As president, he oversees sales and operations at six distribution centers that serve more than 750 grocery retailers in the central, northern and western states in the country, including Alaska and Guam. Stigers will report to Janel Haugarth, executive Vice President and President of Independent Business and supply chain services.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">He replaces Jim Gilliam, who is leaving the company to pursue a new business opportunity. He will remain at SUPERVALU for the next few weeks to ensure a smooth transition.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“Jim has been a key business leader, mentor, customer advocate and contributor to SUPERVALU for many years,” Haugarth said. “He will be greatly missed by employees, customers and suppliers alike. We wish him and his family health and happiness.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Most recently, he was President of the SHAW’S banner. Stigers has 39 years of grocery experience and has held a variety of management positions at Safeway, Jons Markets, Los Angeles, and PW Supermarkets in San Jose, California.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“Mike brings tremendous experience to his position as president of the Northern Region,” Haugarth said. “As the company begins a new chapter, I am very confident that Mike will not only help our current independent customers in the region expand and grow, but that he will bring in new customers as well.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">In addition, Haugarth also announced that Bob Jaskolski has been named Vice President, Sales, Merchandising and Marketing for Independent Business, effective immediately. He was formerly the Northern Western and Independent Business Executive Vice President. Jaskolski has spent the past 27 years with SUPERVALU and has a deep background in both retail operations and merchandising.
