2014 is going to be a big year for the National Mango Board. Supported by assessments from both domestic and imported mangos, the national promotion and research organization plans to continue its successful Mangover campaign, which so far has made a positive impact among consumers and the media since its launch last year.

The National Mango Board (NMB) has garnered over 1.7 billion impressions in 2013, in large part due to its Mangover program initiatives, according to a press release. The organization will continue to drive awareness with its Mangover recipes, concepts and partnerships. NMB has also expanded to include new initiatives in 2014 to improve several of its existing programs, in order to reach more retailers, industry members, and foodservice professionals.

At the request of retailers as well as mango shippers in the U.S., the NMB will continue to produce mango bin displays to help increase mango sales. This year, a limited number of bins will be available free of charge to mango shippers for distribution to their smaller retailers that do not currently receive promotion allocations from the NMB.

Also in 2014, the 14 annual Mango Mania Display Contest will be open to all retailers for the first time ever. More than $12,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the stores that are judged as having built the very best mango displays.

In addition to working with retailers, the NMB also continues to promote the use of mangos in foodservice. NMB's Foodservice PR & Marketing program works with operators, chefs and foodservice media to increase mango consumption.

Other programs include a chef recipe contest and culinary curriculum and videos for culinary students and instructors.

With all of these new initiatives, it's difficult to imagine that mangos won't be a big seller in 2014.

National Mango Board
