LEAMINGTON, ON - Another one of our industry is packing up its tools and getting to work on a new distribution center. This time, it's Nature Fresh Farms as the company carves out a foothold in Laredo, Texas. Nature Fresh has announced that it has future developments in the works for 2021 on its new 61,000 square foot distribution center that will serve as a major hub for fresh produce.
"The acquirement of our new center is part of our plans to optimize our distribution network,” shared Sergio Restrepo, Laredo Division Manager. “With this, we are able to further strengthen our logistics and operations, ensuring that we can better meet the needs and expectations of our consumers and customers.”
The new distribution center will help to service Nature Fresh Farms’ Mexican winter program by allowing for direct shipping of products which will help shorten the company’s supply chain.
According to a press release, the new facility will also enable the company to bring fresher produce to customers located in the Southern part of the U.S.
Since opening the new facility, Nature Fresh has brought on 30 new team members, with plans to introduce even more new positions as the project continues to develop.
This announcement is part of a growth strategy that includes newly completed Phase 7 and 8 greenhouses, the expansion of the company’s Leamington location, and plans for future expansion in Ohio that includes 45 acres of greenhouse and a new distribution center.
“We are looking forward to further developing our Ohio location with many new initiatives planned,” said Vice President, John Ketler. “We see significant opportunities in the continued construction with these new facilities needed to support our growth.”
With over 600 employees and 200 acres of greenhouses, there is no stopping in sight for Nature Fresh Farms as it continues to expand its horizons for further growth.
