PHARR, TX - Mark your calendar for October 6, 2022, folks! The annual ‘Start of the Produce Season’ event is coming up at the Pharr International Bridge, and it is an event you don’t want to miss.

Dante Galeazzi, President and Chief Executive Officer, Texas International Produce Association“Personally, I am looking forward to this event because it’s one of the few times people outside of our industry get together to celebrate and promote fresh fruits and vegetables,” Dante L. Galeazzi, Chief Executive Officer and President, Texas International Produce Association (TIPA). “This kick-off event highlights the health, nutrition, and access to fresh produce and reaches an audience that normally does not interact with or has little understanding into how fresh produce arrives on their plates. This is such a great opportunity to communicate directly with community and state leaders in a way where they actually see and feel the importance of fresh produce—not just to diets, but to businesses and economies!”

The event is significant because it brings attention to not only the bridge but to the industry, partnerships, and economic unity that is key to the fresh produce infrastructure in the state of Texas and North America.

Pharr International Bridge announced the kick-off of the annual event, ‘Start of the Produce Season,’ on October 6

Pharr International Bridge witnesses the most fresh produce crossing into the United States, seeing roughly 196,000 truckloads in 2021. This year, attendees can also experience the first annual “A Taste of Trade” sample tasting event.

Hector Garza, Director of Industry Relations, Texas International Produce Association“Texas brings in the lion’s share of fresh produce imports from Mexico, and the Pharr International Bridge ranks number one for all fresh produce imports across the nation,” stated Hector Garza, Director of Industry Relations, TIPA. “Every year that the Pharr Bridge hosts this event, we feel the excitement as many of our TIPA members will be present to witness what’s in store for this coming season.”

A big part of this event is also highlighting the diversity of fresh produce that is available throughout this region. This event is free and open for all to attend, so click here to RSVP. If your company would like to make a donation of fresh produce for this event, typically a 1/2 pallet or fewer suffices, please contact Freddy Flores with Pharr Bridge at 956-475-6577 or email Vanessa Guzman.

We hope to see the industry there!
