LAKELAND, FL - Following last month’s announcement that Publix had selected Greensboro, North Carolina, as the site of a new $400-dollar distribution center, the retailer has announced plans to further expand its presence in neighboring Georgia—growing its GreenWise Market banner with a fifth location.
In a press release, Publix confirmed that Marietta, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, will be the site of its latest GreenWise Market location. The opening date for this small-format fresh-focused store has not been confirmed.
“We admire the diverse cultural landscape and deep history of the Atlanta area,” said Senior Vice President of Retail Operations Kevin Murphy. “We look forward to creating a unique experience for our Atlanta-area customers.”
The new GreenWise Market will, like its sister stores, feature specialty, natural, and organic items and offer a variety of house-prepared meals, grab-and-go items, and unique products. According to Publix, customers can expect to find everything from products that support their healthful lifestyle to indulgent, unique treats for their inner foodie.
The first standalone GreenWise Market will open next month in Tallahassee, Florida, with subsequent locations in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; Lakeland, Florida; and Boca Raton, Florida, to follow.
Opening dates for the latter stores have yet to be determined, but the Mount Pleasant and Lakeland stores are expected to open in 2019. The company noted that it is actively on the lookout for additional GreenWise Market locations throughout its operating area.
